WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE GETTING EYELASH EXTENSIONS

Lash extensions are a great way to enhance the eyes but there are a few things you should know before getting them in order to make an informed decision on whether they are right for you.

1. They are high maintenance

If you are getting your lashes done for a special event or to go away on holidays so you don't have to worry about doing your makeup while you're away, eyelash extensions are a fantastic option which you can let fall out naturally or return to the salon you had them done at for removal once you get back.

If you're wanting them as a long-term solution though you will need to keep in mind that infills are required every 2-3 weeks. If this sounds like something you don't have the time and finances to keep up with, eyelash extensions are probably not your best option.

2. Proper aftercare is key

After having your lashes done it is incredibly important that you keep up with the correct aftercare procedures as recommended by your lash tech. This will ensure that your extensions stay looking their best for as long as possible as well as making sure that you do not cause damage to your natural lashes.

Some key things you will need to do is to keep your lashes dry for the first 24 hours (after your first set and again after each infill), avoid rubbing your eyes or pulling at your lashes and wash lashes daily after the first 24 hours with a foaming lash cleanser which should be available to purchase at the time of your appointment.

3. Do your research

As with any profession, there are good lash techs and bad lash techs. If applied properly (and assuming you follow the correct aftercare) eyelash extensions should not cause damage to your own eyelashes.

Make sure you do your research and look at before and after photos and reviews before deciding on a place to have your eyelashes done. Remember that you get what you pay for and if someone is offering very cheap lash extensions there's probably a good reason. Poorly applied eyelash extensions will often have clumps of glue near the base or be attached to multiple natural lashes. Not only will this be uncomfortable, you will also experience damage to your own eyelashes.

If you find someone who does a great job, stick with them and don't forget to recommend them to your friends!

When done right, lash extensions are a great investment that can boost your confidence, enhance your eyes and cut time off your morning makeup routine.
